"All Along the Watchtower" fue escrita por Bob Dylan (Videolink) y publicada en su álbum John Wesley Harding (1967). Esta canción es la que más veces a tocado Dylan en directo (más de 1400 veces) y ha sido versionada por numerosos artistas de distintos géneros musicales, como U2 (Videolink), o DMB (Dave Matthews Band) (Videolink), Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam (Videolink), entre otros muchos artistas. Sin duda para mí una de las mejores versiones es la de Jimi Hendrix, que ha sido considerada como la mejor versión de un tema de otro artista. Hendrix incluyó su versión en su disco Electri Ladyland tercer álbum de The Jimi Hendrix Experience (la banda de Jimi Hendrix), que se lanzó en 1968 y fue el último de la banda.
